Modern diesel engines have many sensors that are controlled by engine control unit—ECU. The basics of diesel engine

This main container supplies fuel to every injector. Fuel is stored in it at a high pressure. This generates a high pressure injection to lead to proper atomization of the fuel and a cleaner combustion. This ensures proper control over fuel consumption before during and after injection.
ECU serves as the brain of the engine. It electronically regulates each injector. It has a mapping of the fuel injection for every speed and setting to deliver optimum amount of diesel.
Function of Tuning Box
The same unit is installed with every type of vehicle, but it is due to settings for every vehicle present on it that makes regulation of any vehicle possible. As soon is the tuning box is plugged into any system for diesel tuning, it deciphers the signals from ECU to conform to them. This helps regulate the injector opening exactly to suit the particular vehicle.
